The
Dark River Film Festival is designed by filmmakers for filmmakers. We
bring a unique approach that stresses feedback from judges helping
participants to learn and grow as independent filmmakers. Below you
will find a selection of our rules and awards. When you're ready, you may
submit your film by clicking here or the button at the bottom of this page.
General:
The festival will be held at the Alley Theater, on December 5th and 6th,
2009 .
The genres are Drama, Horror / Thriller, Comedy, Animated and Documentary
for both Short and Full length film categories.

Each film will be viewed and rated by each judge. The judge’s and audiences short comments on your film can be sent to every submitter via email if they would like.
Awards:
The top films in each genre and category will be shown at the festival.
Awards will be given to each film shown and the “Best of Fest” winners.
The winners of each genre in each category will receive $100 in US currency
and a framed achievement award.
The “Best of Fest” winners (one for Short, Full length, and Documentary)
will receive $500 in US currency and a “one of kind” Louisville Slugger bat
engraved with your films title and the award won.

Rules:
Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for consideration, Dark River Film Festival (DRFF) accepts the following formats for screening: NTSC format in standard playable DVD or Blu-Ray, region 0 & 1. The films must be in either English or in their original language with English subtitles. DRFF will not consider any other formats. No films made prior to June 2007 will be accepted.
All submissions are due by September 25th, 2009.
Short films are any non-documentary film with a running time of 30
minutes or less. Full length
films are any non-documentary film with a running time of more than 30
minutes but not longer than 2 hours.
Documentary films are any non-fiction film of the documentary type
with a running time of no longer than 2 hours.
Once the film is received by DRFF, new versions will not be accepted.
Clearly label your submission with title, category and genre, running time,
and contact name. A synopsis,
credits sheet, signed TERMS AND CONDITIONS form, and contact info is
required with each submission.
Submission Categories: Short
Film (30 minutes or less) in Drama, Horror/Thriller, Comedy, and Animation.
Full Length Film (more than 30 minutes but not over 2 hours) in
Drama, Horror/Thriller, Comedy, and Animation.
Documentary (not over 2 hours).
Location or setting can be within each category and genre.
For instance, “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” is a sci-fi setting
in the Comedy genre.
